Manufacturers of plastic products in Slovenia
Due to their diversity and outstanding properties, plastics are considered one of the best and most versatile materials. Plastics are used in many products, either alone or in combination with other materials. They are seen as solutions to many environmental, health/hygiene, technical, and other challenges that we face (lighter vehicle parts for a smaller environmental footprint, appropriate packaging – less food waste, 3D printing of medical implants/prostheses, etc.). The plastics industry is marked by unlimited possibilities for development. The production of products made of plastics in the EU and Slovenia thus represents an important part of the economy.

In Slovenia, plastics processing businesses, which include companies and sole proprietors, can be divided into two groups.
- Those in which the main registered activity according to the Standard Classification of Activities is Manufacture of plastic products and which supply their products to other entities involved in manufacturing activities (automotive, electrical, furniture, food, etc.), agriculture, construction, medicine/veterinary, etc. activities, and to final consumers.
- Those in which Manufacture of plastic products is the second main registered activity, which entails the processing of plastics to obtain materials, semi-finished products and products or components mainly for their own use and to manufacture their finished products (e.g. household appliances, parts for the automotive industry, etc.).

According to the data from the Agency of the Republic of Slovenia for Public Legal Records and Related Services (AJPES), there were 745 business entities with activity 22.2 as the main registered activity operating in Slovenia in 2022, 528 of which were companies and 219 were sole proprietors.
